Review request WhatsApp templates based on real messages. On TextYess, requests signed by a person: an order from 1.00% of messages vs 0.33%.
Review request WhatsApp templates based on real messages. On TextYess, requests signed by a person: an order from 1.00% of messages vs 0.33%.

A review request asks a customer how their order went, then sends them to your review page. On TextYess, brands whose review request is signed by a real person see an order within 48 hours from 1.00% of delivered messages, against 0.33% for brands that sign as the company. We can’t see how many reviews each message produces, so orders are the signal we use.
A named person signs it. “It’s Emma from…” or “I’m the craftsman who made it”: brands that do this get an order within 48 hours from 1.00% of delivered messages, brands that don’t from 0.33%.
Ask how it went before asking for the review. One fragrance brand asks “how did it go with your perfume?”, says the rating takes a few seconds, and tells people to ignore the message if they already reviewed by email. It brings an order from 2.24% of 2,006 delivered messages, read by 82%.
Brands wait about two weeks. Automated review requests on TextYess go out a median of 14 days after the order (anywhere from the same day to 31 days).
People read them. The median brand’s review request is read by 82.2% of recipients and leads to an order from 0.53% of delivered messages.
Use it as your default. It follows the fragrance brand’s message: a named sender, “how did it go” first, a short ask, and an exit line for people who already left a review.

Ask for a one-tap answer, then send the review link only to happy customers as a normal reply. Many WhatsApp vendors recommend this, but we have no results data for it yet.

One fragrance brand sent this to its top 5% of customers: a personal thank-you with a 20% code, plus a review request. It brought an order from 0.93% of 2,910 delivered messages. The code makes it a marketing template. Keep the code unconditional: it thanks the customer for their loyalty and does not depend on leaving a review.

Send it once the customer has had time to use the product. Brands on TextYess send a median of 14 days after the order, and some trigger it when the order is marked fulfilled and ask “has it arrived?” first. Send the marketing version as a separate campaign to your best customers, not as part of the order flow. With TextYess the review request goes out automatically from your Shopify order data.
Utility, as long as the message is tied to a specific order, which is why templates 1 to 3 name the order number. Meta does not approve a generic request for feedback as utility. A code, an offer or a “shop more” line makes it marketing, so template 4 is a marketing template. See Meta’s template categorisation.
Keep the order number in the utility versions. Without it the request is generic, and Meta won’t accept it as utility.
Don’t add a discount code to a utility review request. Meta treats mixed content as marketing and can recategorise the template.
Don’t start or end the body with a variable. Template 1 ends with “Thank you so much 🙏”, not with the product name.
Button labels can be up to 25 characters and URLs up to 2,000. Quick replies and URL buttons in the same template can’t be viewed on WhatsApp desktop.
Give a sample value for every variable. Meta rejects templates with too many variables for the amount of text. See Meta’s template review rules.
Is a WhatsApp review request marketing or utility?
It is utility when it refers to a specific order, for example by including the order number. A generic "tell us what you think" is not approved as utility, and adding a discount makes it marketing.
When should I send a review request on WhatsApp?
After the customer has had time to use the product. Brands on TextYess send it a median of 14 days after the order.
Should the message come from a person or from the brand?
From a person. Brands whose review request is signed by a named person see an order from 1.00% of delivered messages, against 0.33% for brands that sign as the company.
Can I send it automatically?
Yes. With TextYess the review request goes out automatically a set number of days after the order, using your Shopify data.
Delivery confirmation, Post-purchase cross-sell and Loyalty points.
