A price drop message tells customers that something they like now costs less: one product they viewed, or a further markdown across a range. Few brands on TextYess send it, and those that do get about the same result as any campaign, 0.64% per delivered message. In the handful of examples we have, the better ones show an actual price or an extra code, not a vague “up to”.
Our data on price drops is thin: one automated flow and a handful of markdown campaigns. Here is what we can say.
A price drop alone isn’t special. Markdown campaigns convert 0.64% per delivered message for the median brand, the same as campaigns in general (0.65%).
Show the price, not “up to”. In this small sample, the two best messages showed concrete prices (bundle prices before and after, 1.91%) or an extra code on top of the sale (1.57%). A sneaker brand’s “up to 40% off” with no price did worst, at 0.33%.
A code helps campaigns. Within the same brand and month, campaigns with a discount or code bring 1.60× the orders of those without, and a copy-code button 1.51×.
The automated version: for someone who viewed or saved a product that is now cheaper. Name the product and show both prices, so the customer can see the saving at a glance.

Good news, {{first_name}} 👋 If it’s still on your mind, now is a good moment to take another look 👇 |

Buttons: URL “View the product”
Example values: {{first_name}} = Emma, {{product_name}} = wool overshirt, {{old_price}} = 49, {{new_price}} = 39
For a sale that is already on. It gives regular customers something more than the public markdown. A fragrance brand sent this during its summer sale and got 1.57%.

Hi {{first_name}}, an extra *{{discount}}% off* just for you, on top of the sale 🏖️ The code also works on items already reduced by up to 60%. |

Buttons: copy code, URL “Shop the sale”
Example values: {{first_name}} = Emma, {{discount}} = 15, {{deadline}} = Monday, {{discount_code}} = SALE15
For brands with a range at a few price points. Each line shows the before and after, so the reader doesn’t have to work it out. A home and beauty brand got 1.91% with this, the best result among price drop messages.

💥 *FURTHER REDUCTIONS* 💥 The discount is applied automatically at checkout. |

Buttons: URL “See the bundles”
Example values: {{first_name}} = Emma. Write your own prices straight into the text: a campaign template is sent once, so the prices don’t need variables, and fewer variables means fewer rejections.
For a seasonal range. One clear “from” price and one real reason to move now. A menswear brand sends this kind of message mid-season.

☀️ *Summer essentials, now reduced further.* ⏳ Have a look before your size sells out. |

Buttons: URL “Shop now”
Example values: {{first_name}} = Emma, {{from_price}} = 19
For one product, the trigger is the price change itself: send it to people who viewed or saved that product, and only when the price has really dropped. For a range, send a campaign when the further markdown goes live, to customers who bought from that category. TextYess has no built-in price-drop trigger. For the one-product version, the app that tracks the price change (Klaviyo or a price-drop app, for example) sends the event to a TextYess flow by webhook; for the range version, send a campaign to the right customers.
A price drop message is marketing: its only purpose is to get the customer to buy. Even when it concerns a product the customer saved, it can’t be sent as utility. Source: Meta template categorisation.
Keep £ and % outside the variables and use plain numbers as sample values (39, not £39). Meta rejects special characters inside variables.
Prices in a message go through Meta’s Commerce Policy check. Show only prices that are true on your site, and consider a product card for the price if your catalogue is connected.
Don’t start or end the body with a variable. Every template here ends with a fixed line.
Too many variables for too few words is a common rejection reason. That’s why template 3 has the prices written in, not as variables.
Button labels can be 25 characters at most. Full rules: Meta template review.
Is a price drop WhatsApp message marketing or utility?
Marketing. It exists to get the customer to buy, even when it is about a product they saved.
Should I show the old and new price?
Yes. In our data, the price drop messages that showed concrete prices or an extra code did best, and the vague "up to 40% off" did worst.
Who should get a price drop message?
For one product, the people who viewed or saved it. For a range, the customers who buy from that category. Who receives a campaign matters more than its wording: campaigns to repeat customers convert about 3× the same brand's other sends.
Can I send it automatically?
Yes, if an app such as Klaviyo or a price-drop app tracks the price change and who viewed the product. It sends the event to TextYess by webhook and the message goes out from there. For a range, send it as a campaign instead.
